Christmas Eve Service 2020
This year's Christmas Eve service will be online, with a limited in-person option.
This year our Christmas Eve worship service will be virtual, with a limited in-person option. In lieu of the normal schedule of three services (which saw attendance of 800 to 900 or so people) we are limited to one in-person service of no more than 25 in attendance. Therefore, we are going to do something more inventive, as we did at our Easter service. This time we will do so with a bonus. We are going to make an on-site option available.
At 7:00 pm on Christmas Eve our worship service will be released on Facebook and YouTube. The live stream and YouTube service will be shown continuously thereafter from December 24 through the weekend. This means that persons may access and attend the worship service at any time they choose over the course of a few days. For those with technical limitations, we might be able to provide a CD of the service ahead of time. To arrange that, please contact Roxie at 410-822-2677 or at connect@christchnurcheaston.
Our Christmas Eve service will be a celebration of the Holy Eucharist complete with hymns, songs, and a message. The entire service will be presented. At the point of the distribution of communion, those attending (the 7:00 pm live stream,) will have two options. The first is communion at home. The second is communion on-site.
For those who prefer and intend on having communion at home: To facilitate the Holy Communion, we will consecrate the elements of bread and wine at our regular Sunday service on December 20. The consecrated communion will be available to be picked up at church or delivered to you at your home from Monday, December 21 to noon on Thursday, December 24. The communion will be in a pre-packaged chalice and it will include both the bread and wine (with a limited number of options available with grape juice and some with gluten free wafers for those who request it).
For those who would like to take communion at or in the church, the same pre-packaged chalices will be available on site. On Christmas Eve, we hope participants will join the live stream at 7:00PM as their time of prayer and preparation for communion. At the distribution of communion, around 7:40 PM (we will specify it in the service), you will be invited to make your way here. Communion will be available at the church from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. It will be a fluid and open time for people to come to the church grounds and gather informally outdoors for Christmas carols, which will be led by our worship teams. In-doors will be a candle lit and quieter setting, open for those who want to come and pray. When those present are ready, they may enter into the church to take their holy communion by the altar. As an informal and fluid time, you may come and go at your pleasure. We do ask that all COVID-19 precautions be observed.
Our intention is to give you the opportunity to be a part of the service and have your communion in the safety of your home. You must call the office to arrange for it: 410-822-2677.
